The protein engineering technology from which AvidBiotics is launching its business consists of:   1. a proprietary platform of bactericidal proteins targetable against specific bacteria    2. a powerful diversity generator (“DGR”), and an important structural motif which serves as a scaffold on which to build protein molecules that bind tightly to a large range of target molecules.       The proteins we are developing as commercial therapeutics are engineered R-type  pyocins, called  Avidocin™ proteins. Avidocin™ proteins have been designed and engineered to kill specific bacteria by attacking via certain of the latter’s exposed surface molecules.
